# Kling 4.0: capabilities, access and practical workflow

A candidate when a shot needs several planned visual beats. Kuaishou describes a 30-second single pass and reference-driven camera and subject control.

## Verified specification snapshot

| Field | Published information |
| --- | --- |
| Provider | Kuaishou |
| Single-pass generation | Up to 30 seconds; mode and access conditions apply |
| Resolution | 4K and 1080p described as upcoming in launch release |
| Audio | Voice references described; verify output settings |
| Direction and references | Up to 15 combined assets and 10 keyframes |
| Access | Launched October 15; verify API separately |
| Billing | Depends on platform and task settings |

Important limit: The release uses future wording for some output formats and extension features. Announced specifications are not proof those options are enabled in every account.

## Use keyframes to define meaningful changes

A keyframe should describe a state that matters to the shot. For a simple product reveal, useful states are the concealed product, a half reveal and the finished composition. Ten nearly identical images add little directional information. Start with fewer, clearer anchors and add an intermediate frame only when a transition needs it.

Keep identity, costume, lighting and camera perspective compatible across frames. If a subject changes scale sharply between anchors, decide whether that is a camera move, a cut or a subject move. Write that decision into your shot plan so you have something concrete to evaluate after generation.

## Separate launch features from future wording

Kuaishou says Kling 4.0 launched on October 15, 2026. The same release uses future wording for 4K, 1080p and ultrawide support, and for longer extensions. We therefore do not label all those options as currently available. A launch release describes a product direction as well as a shipping state.

For delivery, open your actual account and record the output controls that are enabled. Generate a short sample, inspect its metadata, and check the downloaded file rather than the preview player. If a client requires a particular color pipeline, obtain confirmation about transfer characteristics and export format before committing to a grade.

## A practical action-shot test

Use one subject moving along a visible path, such as a cyclist crossing a quiet square while the camera tracks sideways. Keep the framing wide enough to see contact with the ground. Evaluate wheel geometry, direction of travel, occlusions and the consistency of background objects.

Repeat the test with the same required actions and save every attempt. A vendor-selected demonstration cannot tell you your own acceptance rate. Compare the number of acceptable shots, time spent fixing them and cost for the final result. If a shot needs no keyframes, a simpler text or image workflow may be more economical than a complex reference setup.

## Decide using your own accepted shots

Our workflow recommendation is an editorial inference from the documented controls. We have not run a controlled benchmark or purchased a test batch for this guide. Compare the same required scene across the tools you can actually access, then record acceptance rate, edit time and total cost.

Keep a usable shot only when it meets the brief at delivery size. A model with a smaller advertised limit can still be a practical choice for a short project. For a fair test, keep the required subject, action and framing consistent while adapting syntax to each tool’s documented controls.

## Compare the task, then the alternative

Runway’s Gen-4.5 help page documents short text- and image-led generation at 720p base output. [Source ↗](https://help.runwayml.com/hc/en-us/articles/46974685288467-Creating-with-Gen-4-5) Google’s Omni guide describes conversational changes and explicitly labels higher-resolution exports as upscaled. These are different production capabilities, not evidence of a quality winner. Add an alternative to your shortlist only when it supports an important requirement of your shot. Use the directory to examine the details before starting a paid pilot.
